Frequently asked questions
What age can swimmers start lessons?
We offer programmes for swimmers of different ages and abilities, starting with Seal 1 from around age 3. Contact us and we’ll help you find the right class.
How many swimmers are in each class?
Our group lessons have a maximum of four swimmers, allowing for personalised coaching and faster progression. Star Squad sessions have a maximum of six.
How do I know which level is right for me or my swimmer?
If you’re unsure, book a 15-minute swim assessment (€15). One of our instructors will assess confidence, ability and experience, then recommend the most suitable class, and the €15 is deducted from your term fees if you enrol.
Do you offer private lessons?
Yes. We offer one-to-one, two-to-one and three-to-one private lessons for both children and adults.
Do you teach adults?
Absolutely! Our adult pathway includes Adult Beginner, Adult Intermediate and Adult Advanced classes, as well as private lessons.
What do I need to bring to my lesson?
Swimwear, a towel, goggles (recommended) and a positive attitude! Depending on the class, we may recommend additional equipment.
What is your policy on missed lessons?
As places are reserved for the full term, we’re unable to offer refunds, credits or make-up sessions for lessons missed by the swimmer.
Do parents need to get in the water or stay poolside?
No. Parents do not need to enter the water during lessons, and for safety reasons, parents are not permitted to stand on the pool deck. Our instructors will take care of your swimmer throughout their lesson.
Do you offer lessons for swimmers with additional needs?
Yes. We offer inclusive swimming lessons, including our dedicated Star Splash Sensory Swim, and we will work with you to find the most suitable lesson for the swimmer.
What qualifications do your instructors have?
All lessons are delivered by Water Safety Ireland qualified Swim Teachers. Across our team, qualifications also include Pool and River Lifeguarding, Water Safety Instruction and Tutoring, alongside backgrounds in education, coaching and sport.
Where can swimming lead after the learn-to-swim levels?
Our pathway continues beyond learn-to-swim into Star Squad, Water Safety Ireland awards, Junior Lifeguard, Rescue Awards, Lifeguard and eventually Swim Teacher training.
